Planning a scientific enquiry

LO: To plan a scientific enquiry.

National Curriculum Objectives covered:
  • Year 6 - Animals including humans: To recognise the impact of diet, exercise, drugs and lifestyle on the way their bodies function.
  • Working Scientifically skills

During this outdoor lesson, children will raise and answer their own question by planning and carrying out their own scientific enquiry. As they do this, they will deepen their understanding of scientific concepts such as the impact of exercise on the way their bodies function.

The main activity in this outdoor and active lesson involves the children designing and carrying out their own pattern seeking enquiry in order to answer a key question. They will become familiar with your outdoor space while focusing on developing their working scientifically skills. This lesson also gives an opportunity to extend the learning further.
