During this outdoor lesson, your children will have the opportunity to explore their outdoor environment looking for common plants and weeds. They will use the flowers they find to inspire their artwork whilst improving their drawing skills and techniques.

Deepen your children’s understanding of the elements of art by exploring tone/value in this outdoor lesson. Create time and space outdoors for your children to replicate a famous artwork by Georgia O’Keeffe, giving them time to use the drawing skills and techniques used to create tone, shadow, highlights and depth to their own work.

Creating the feeling of movement and fluidity

The main activity of this outdoor lesson is aimed around your children creating movement and fluidity in their artwork, using watercolour paints. Children will use O’Keeffe’s famous paintings and the nature in their outdoor space to inspire their own artwork.

Planning a piece of artwork in the style of a famous artist

Deliver a creative and jam-packed outdoor art lesson that gives your children the opportunity to plan a piece of artwork combining all things they’ve learnt in this unit. Includes an extended starter activity, where children have the opportunity to sketch the plants and flowers in their outdoor area using a variety of different mediums.

Combine everything learnt in this unit so far to create a piece of artwork in the style of the famous artist Georgia O’Keeffe. In this outdoor lesson, your children will need to use all the skills and drawing techniques they have worked on during this unit to create some detailed works of art inspired by nature.
